My History

In the beginning, there was music.

Being the child of classical music enthusiasts, I had no chance of escaping it — not that I ever wanted to. My mother was an operatic soprano and held an Associateship in piano performance, and my father played both piano and cello. With that kind of musical foundation, it was no surprise that I started piano lessons at age five and picked up the violin by seven,  eventually taking ten years of formal training on each instrument.

My journey took a new direction when I moved to Edmonton to attend the GMCC guitar program. While there, I happened to watch a piano being tuned in the recording studio —and something clicked. I was immediately intrigued by the art and precision of piano technology. That moment set me on a new path.

I began connecting with some of the top piano technicians in Edmonton, spending time in their workshops, observing and learning. I bought a basic set of tools, started studying, and practiced diligently. After a few years, I successfully passed the exam to become a Craftsman member of the Canadian Association of Piano Technicians (CAPT) — one of the proudest days of my life.

Since then, I’ve attended seminars and conferences across North America and have been working full-time in the piano technology field for over 30 years.

At heart, I’m a music fan first. I’ve been lucky enough to build a career helping other musicians sound their best — and that’s something I never take for granted.
